Features:
Material Composition – Typically contain 10-32% chromium (Cr), along with carbon (C), manganese (Mn), and molybdenum (Mo) for enhanced properties.
High Hardness – Achieve 58-68 HRC, providing excellent resistance to wear and deformation.
Superior Wear Resistance – High Cr content forms hard carbides, significantly reducing wear in grinding applications.
Good Corrosion Resistance – Ideal for wet grinding and acidic environments, such as mineral processing.
Brittleness – More brittle than low-Cr or forged grinding balls, requiring proper heat treatment to balance hardness and toughness.
Heat Treatment – Undergo quenching and tempering to optimize microstructure and improve performance.
Applications – Used in cement plants, mining, and power stations, especially in environments requiring high wear and corrosion resistance.
Selection notes
High chrome cast balls hold hardness at the surface and through the section, which is why they outlast forged media in abrasive cement and mineral circuits where impact is moderate.
Sizes are supplied to the tolerance stated in the specification table above
Hardness and impact values are recorded per heat and reported on the mill certificate
Mixed sizes can be loaded in one container to suit a chamber change
Packing options: 1 t bulk bag, 850 kg steel drum or 2 t pallet
Ordering
Send the mill type, chamber, ball or rod size and the tonnage you need per year. We will quote FOB Qingdao or CIF, with a lead time confirmed against the current production schedule. Request a quotation.
What chrome content do your high chrome cast grinding balls have?
Cr 18-26% with hardness HRC 58-65. The exact chromium level is fixed per order, and the chemical composition of every heat is reported on the mill certificate.
What sizes can you cast?
From 20 mm to 120 mm: 20, 25, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100 and 120 mm. Other diameters can be cast on request.
Will the balls break in a ball mill?
Breakage rate is below 1%. High chrome is a hard, abrasion-resistant grade, so it is not the best choice for high-impact SAG duty - for that we recommend forged B2/B3 balls.
What is the MOQ and lead time?
MOQ is 20 tonnes per size for a first order; a 5 tonne trial lot is available if you need to test the media in your mill. Lead time is 20-30 days for 20-100 tonnes and 30-40 days above that, ex-works Shandong or FOB Qingdao.
How are the balls packed?
1,000 kg bulk bags, 850 kg steel drums or 2,000 kg pallets. A 20 ft container takes 25 t in bulk bags.
