Forged Grinding Cylpebs
Forged and hot-rolled cylpebs are made by heating steel bar, rolling or forging it to shape and then heat treating to the hardness the application needs. They cost less than cast chrome cylpebs and are tougher, which suits mills where the media occasionally sees impact.
Standard grades are 45#, 60Mn, 65Mn, B2 and B3, with hardness from HRC 45 to HRC 62 and impact values of 12 J/cm2 or more. Sizes run from 20x30 mm to 60x70 mm, with diameter tolerance +/-1 mm and length tolerance +/-2 mm.
Hot-rolled cylpebs are the common choice for cement and mineral fine grinding where the budget is tight but breakage must stay low. For the most abrasive circuits, compare the cast chrome cylpebs.
