Mill Grinding Balls, Grinding Cylpebs and Grinding Rods

Cast Grinding Balls

High Chrome Cast Grinding Balls (Cr 18–26%)

Medium Chrome Cast Grinding Balls (Cr 8–12%)

Low Chrome Cast Grinding Balls (Cr 1–3%)
Cast grinding balls are poured from molten chrome alloy into metal or sand moulds, which allows a much higher chromium content than forging and gives excellent abrasion resistance at a lower cost per tonne than forged media.
The three grades we cast cover different duties: high chrome (Cr 18-26%, HRC 58-65) for cement and mineral grinding where wear is abrasive; medium chrome (Cr 8-12%, HRC 45-55) for a balance of cost and life in raw mills and coal mills; and low chrome (Cr 1-3%, HRC 40-50) for dry grinding where budget matters more than maximum life.
Sizes run from 20 mm to 120 mm. Cast balls are normally used in the second chamber of cement mills, in coal mills and in fine grinding circuits, while forged balls take the high-impact first chamber. Both can be supplied in the same shipment so the charge is balanced from day one.
