Selection notes
Rod mills grind by line contact, so the rod must stay straight and resist bending for its whole life. A bent rod bridges in the mill, stops the charge from cascading and can damage the liners.
- Sizes are supplied to the tolerance stated in the specification table above
- Hardness and impact values are recorded per heat and reported on the mill certificate
- Mixed sizes can be loaded in one container to suit a chamber change
- Packing options: 1 t bulk bag, 850 kg steel drum or 2 t pallet

FAQs
What diameters and lengths do you supply?
40 mm to 120 mm diameter, in lengths up to 6 m. Rod length is normally mill length minus 100-150 mm.
How straight are the rods?
Straightness is controlled to 2 mm per metre, with square-cut, chamfered ends so the rods do not hang in the mill.
What material and hardness?
Heat-treated carbon and alloy steel (45#, 60Mn, 65Mn, 40Cr) at HRC 45-55, selected for the ore and mill diameter.
What is the MOQ and lead time?
MOQ is 20 t; lead time 25-35 days. Rods are packed in bundles of 2-3 t with steel strapping.
Can you match a rod to an existing mill?
Yes - send the mill model, rod length and current consumption, and we will quote a grade that resists bending in your duty.
